Having Trouble Talking to Your Teen?
The teenage years are a rollercoaster of emotions for teens and parents. I am also a mom, and I’ve walked the path of parenthood with its ups and downs, joys and challenges. It’s a journey filled with love and a desire to provide the best for our children. I want you to know that you are not alone in this journey. You know your child but may be questioning if their behavior is typical or if they have signs of suffering mental health. Don’t doubt yourself; trust your intuition. You want to help them be happy and healthy and so do I. I’ve worked with teens for the last 20 years as a school counselor and have learned about them, from them.
I understand that your teen confiding in another adult can be hurtful. Your kid loves you and will bottle their emotions to avoid hurting you. I have qualities that enable me to work effectively with teens. Through active listening, empathy, and patience, I create a safe, non-judgmental environment where teens process their emotions and learn coping skills.
Therapy takes time, but early intervention improves mental health now and builds a brighter pathway for their future.
