Telehealth refers to the delivery of mental health services via electronic communications, including video conferencing and telephone. Heiser Counseling offers telehealth to clients in Texas and Washington State using HIPAA-compliant video platforms. ### Benefits - Access to care from a private location - Reduced travel time and scheduling flexibility - Continuity of care during illness or travel ### Limitations - Technology failures may interrupt sessions - Telehealth may not be appropriate for all presentations - Non-verbal cues may be harder to observe - Not appropriate as the sole service during acute crisis ### Confidentiality The same confidentiality protections that apply to in-person therapy apply to telehealth. You are responsible for conducting sessions in a private location. Heiser Counseling uses HIPAA-compliant platforms, but no electronic transmission can be fully guaranteed. ### Emergency Procedures If you are in a mental health emergency during a session, you will be directed to call 911 or 988. Please provide your current address at the start of each session. Telehealth is not an emergency service. ### Technology Requirements - Device with camera and microphone - Stable internet or cellular connection - Private, quiet location ### State Licensing Destany Schadder is licensed as an LPC in Texas and LMHC in Washington State. Telehealth is available only to clients physically located in Texas or Washington at the time of the session. --- ## Part Two — Good Faith Estimate (No Surprises Act) ### Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate Under the federal No Surprises Act (effective January 1, 2022), you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of expected costs before your first appointment and upon request at any time. ### What the Estimate Covers - Expected session frequency and duration - Fee per session - Estimated total cost for a defined period - Any other reasonably anticipated services Mental health treatment is individualized — the actual number of sessions needed cannot always be predicted. ### Current Fees Current session fees are provided during your initial consultation and in your GFE. Fees are subject to change with advance notice. Heiser Counseling accepts private pay and Sendero Health (Texas). Cash pay is also available. ### Dispute Resolution If you receive a bill substantially higher than your GFE (generally $400 or more above the estimate), you may dispute the bill.
